所以，同学们在选择材料的时候一定要想一想，这个材料写进作文能不能为你所要表现的中心服务？如果能表现中心的就要采用；如果不能表现中心的，则要毫不留情地舍去。
一个星期日的早晨，陈玉英同学跟着妈妈去镇上的农贸市场买菜，回到家后，她准备写一篇作文，取的题目为《菜场见闻》。
以下是她收集的作文素材： 例如： 1．从家里出发一路到农贸市场，公路两旁景色十分优美。
2．农贸市场外观：崭新、宽敞、明亮。
3．市场里一片繁荣景象：买菜的人多、摊位多、货物品种多。
4．一个蔬菜摊位前的一位顾客在向摊主讨教种黄瓜的经验。
5．在农贸市场里妈妈碰到过去念初中时的一位同学，两人谈了很长时间的话。
6．现在的这个农贸市场与过去的农贸市场简直不能相比。
如果一篇作文里有几件事的，还要注意事与事之间的过渡、照应等，这样文章就显得自然流畅。
当然记事作文的写作除了以上谈的三个注意点外，还有在记叙事件中可适当运用倒叙、插叙等手法，这样能使文章“曲折”多变，引人入胜。
