例如：
她很漂亮（/美/俊/好看/靓/喜欢人/稀罕人）。
上面使用不同的词语表达同样的意思，各有不同的语体风格和方言色彩，因此有不同的表达效果。
采用不同的句式或修辞格会取得更加不同的效果。
例如：
一提起她来，十里八村没有一个不说她漂亮的。（使用双重否定，加强肯定）
她长得鼻子是鼻子，眼是眼的，越端详越好看。（使用熟语描写）
她长得好像仙女一样。（明喻）
她长得简直就是个人样子。（暗喻）
都说王晓明漂亮，她比王晓明还漂亮。（衬托）
她可是百里挑一的大美人。（夸张）
她就是咱村的“七仙女”。（借代）
看见她一眼，这辈子就算没白活。（夸张）
她是现代的赵飞燕、东方的维纳斯、中国的戴安娜。（排比）
同样，如果说一个人长得丑，也有各种各样的说法。
例如：
不同的词语表现了不同的语体风格和方言色彩。

大家都叫她“朱二姨”。（借代）
以下几例都是夸张，但是夸张的程度不同，表达的效果也不同。

她丑得可以去当吓唬乌鸦的稻草人。（夸张）
她要是去当稻草人，准把所有的乌鸦都吓跑了。（夸张）

又如：
她的皮肤很好。（一般叙述）
她的肉皮真细发。（口语化）
她的皮肤就像4-5岁的孩子似的又白又嫩。（明喻）
她真是肤如凝脂、面若桃花。（对偶）
要取得最佳的表达效果，就要结合语体、具体的语境、人物角色等选择恰当的语言材料和表达手段。
因此，修辞和语音、词汇、语法等都有密切的联系。
